Port of Seattle College Intern - Continuous Process Improvement in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
This is a full-time internship position expected to start early summer. As part of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), the process improvement program works to streamline processes and reduce frustration for employees at Port of Seattle. We inform and influence employee engagement in problem solving, streamlining, and improving processes throughout the Port of Seattle.
You will assist the Continuous Process Improvement Program Managers by partnering on content and curriculum documentation and process analysis to identify improvement opportunities. Some of your duties include:
Create CPI standard operating procedures (process maps) for internal processes
Utilize Mural to create templates for CPI standard work (training will be provided for Mural)
Edit and design CPI training content
SharePoint process and design
Review and map out processes in identified areas – creating standard work
Other duties as assigned
In addition to gaining valuable experience with process improvement tools, methodologies, techniques, and strategies, you will get a firsthand look at the operations of a highly active continuous process improvement department that supports all aspects of problem-solving, respect for people, waste elimination, and standard work creation.
Who you are:
A Student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or other post-secondary certificate program, or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a program related to lean six sigma, supply chain management, business or public administration, or related field.

What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – This is a full-time summer position (up to 40 hours per week). Normal work hours will be arranged Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Work Environment – You will primarily work remotely in accordance with the Port’s Flexible Work Arrangement policy and may be required to work in an office environment as needed to meet business and operational needs.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
