Job Title: Facilities Technician
Job Description
As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for entering and completing work orders via phone or laptop, managing vendor communications, and performing various maintenance tasks. The role requires physical ability to move furniture between sites, simple carpentry, furniture assembly, and ensuring site security systems are operational. You will work on a rotating on-call basis for after-hours emergency work and use your own personal truck or van (with mileage reimbursement).
Responsibilities
Enter and complete work orders on phone or laptop
Manage vendor communications for work beyond the facilities team’s scope
Physically move furniture between sites
Perform maintenance tasks such as simple carpentry, hanging objects, furniture assembly, and door hardware installation
Coordinate with vendors and temporary workers when needed
Use personal truck or van for transportation (Mileage reimbursement provided)
Work on a rotating on-call basis for after-hours emergency work
Ensure site security systems are always operational
Use hand tools and have a working knowledge of power tools
Essential Skills
Experience in facilities maintenance
1+ year of experience in light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting
Working knowledge of hand and power tools
Skills in electrical, HVAC, building maintenance, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, lighting, and maintenance repair
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions well
Strong communication skills and ability to report problems in real-time
Self-sufficient and a fast learner
Possess a van or truck with an enclosed bed (preferably with a canopy)

Work Environment
The work environment includes over 50 locations throughout Seattle, including 15 schools in the Seattle School District. You will travel between sites, ensuring facilities are maintained to medical standards and kept sanitary. Expect occasional travel to different areas such as Northgate, Rainier Beach, and West Seattle, with occasional trips to Vashon Island.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.50/hr.
