Blue Origin LLC Internal Load Prin - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure to enable transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Responsibilities: * Internal loads finite element model development, refinement, verification, and validation * Perform static, dynamic, buckling, and modal analysis of space vehicle primary structure * Accurately model boundary conditions and external loads (static, quasi-static, acoustic, thermal and pressure) for all flight events throughout mission * Compile and present organized internal loads data sets with clear documentation of inputs and outputs * Support rapid vehicle configuration developments and trade studies * Regular collaboration and communication with various engineering teams Minimum Qualifications: * Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering * 10+ years of FEA experience developing complex models for aerospace applications * Solid foundation of static and dynamic structural engineering fundamentals * Deep understanding of aerospace FEA modeling techniques * Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools) * Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: * Spacecraft/ air vehicle/ launch vehicle internal loads FEM development and validation experience * Advanced FEM knowledge i.e. composites, superelements, fatigue, non-linear static/ non-linear buckling analysis * FEMAP and NASTRAN proficiency * MATLAB proficiency * Familiarity with CAD software (Catia/ Creo) * Familiarity with TMP Vision/ Slim * VBA/ Python/ FEMAP API scripting knowledge for FEM tool development and process automation.
