Amazon Marketing Manager, Devices and Services Sustainability Accelerator in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Devices is looking for a Sr Marketing Manager for Events to help drive programs designed to discover and integrate new, carbon-reducing technologies into our products, services and operations. As a founding member of a new initiative in Amazon Devices, this Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing programs to accelerate the maturation and adoption of new tech from startups and scaleups. Working alongside Product Management, Solutions Architects, Commodity and Operations experts, you will operate in multiple capacities:

  • a) as a marketing manager responsible for designing and delivering the day-to-day programming of multi-week cohort-based

  • b) as a central point of leadership to coordinate cohort related contributions of internal stakeholders and 3rd party operators

  • c) as a program management lead for cross-functional planning activities related to designing a future a portfolio of future cohort programs

The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of marketing and communications, a history of concepting, managing and delivering event programming. This includes live in-person experiences, live virtual experiences, and pre-produced virtual content. In addition, the candidate will have a demonstrated competence in driving a cross functional team to successfully set visions, establish interim milestones, and execute tactically. The candidate must be comfortable operating in ambiguity (i.e., helping the team drive clarity when faced with new or unexpected challenges), establishing mechanisms that scale to support repeatability, and establishing and tracking key success measures. In addition, the successful candidate also has strong communication across various levels of seniority. Because the team is scrappy, the candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver the small details. You’ll work across many groups, get broad exposure to the entire business and engage with external technology ventures. You are comfortable taking initiative and working across teams in a relatively unstructured environment. You are also comfortable innovating and building programs from the ground up, and managing multiple projects while balancing conflicting priorities in a rapidly changing environment.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr Marketing Manager, your responsibilities will include driving cohort schedules from concept through launch and completion and using metrics to provide status along the way. You will:

  • Build, execute, and scale cross-functional event content & programming.

  • Be the end-to-end owner of programming for Amazon and third-party event general sessions, main stages, speaker selection and preparation, and keynote delivery.

  • Identify resourcing plan for event content, balancing internal resources with agency support, maintaining customer obsession and frugality.

  • Manage internal creative partners to ensure quality, on-budget, on-time delivery of marketing programs and assets across multiple channels

  • Set and hold a consistently high bar for design and content quality of all customer-facing event materials, oversee event content end-to-end, including creative input, development, and execution from concept to completion, act as final reviewer of all event content, including voice, grammar, and copy editing, with attention to detail and relentlessly high quality and standards.

  • Drive cross-functional strategic planning efforts for future cohorts. While not solely responsible for strategic product visions, you will be a contributor.

  • Dive deep to keep projects on track, maintaining operational excellence with projects and with colleagues across Amazon.

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus resource constraints.

  • Clearly and concisely communicate (both verbally and in writing) to drive alignment with cross-functional teams and update senior management on program metrics, status, risks and required mitigations to maintain project commitments.

  • Compile learnings and share best practices across teams to increase effectiveness and drive multi-year planning activities

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. Within Lab126, the Sustainability organization focuses intently on reducing our carbon impact and making our products and their experiences more sustainable for business and the planet. Within sustainability, this scrappy group is tasked with sourcing, evaluating, engaging and ideally integrating new technologies (from startups and scaleups) in a way that helps to reduce the carbon footprint of our products, services and operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of timezones and languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners

  • Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience in Strategy development: formulating marketing strategies aligned with overall business and marketing objectives

  • Analysis and Reporting: measuring the success of marketing campaigns through post-campaign analysis, gathering feedback, and providing insights for continuous improvement

  • Experience presenting ideas to various levels of an organization to gain support for initiatives

  • Adaptability: staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and product marketing best practices to bring innovation to the product marketing space

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
