HARBORVIEW’S PIONEER SQUARE DOWNTOWN PROGRAM has an outstanding opportunity for a MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100%FTE

  • Monday – Friday, 8hour Day shifts POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Focused on providing care for clients/residents of Compass Center, Lyon Building, and the Union Hotel.

  • Opportunity to work with an underserved, disenfranchised homeless population DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Pioneer Square Downtown Programs focus on Harborview's mission population to address health equity issues by increasing access to care in our unique primary care settings, homeless shelters, housing programs or community settings for unhoused and vulnerably housed people. The Pioneer Square Downtown Programs Field Based team embeds providers, RNs and mental health practitioners throughout sites from South Seattle to North Seattle including homeless shelters and low-income supportive housing units. Our team includes two outreach teams (Vital and Homeless Palliative care) as well as providers at the Needle Exchange and a mental health center downtown.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to serve homeless people, many of whom are using substances and/or have a mental illness

  • Provide outreach/engagement services for difficult-to-reach clients initially addressing basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medical care

  • Conduct psychosocial and social service needs assessments. Develop treatment plans, provision of case management and psychotherapy services

  • Recommend and monitor use of medication in mental health treatment

  • Participate in psychiatric consultation, supervision, program meetings

  • Develop, implement and document teaching specific to the patient populations served by the Health Care for the Homeless Mental Health Team REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or socialwork OR Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years’ of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
