As a Sr. Accountant you will have the equivalent of 3+ years of professional experience with financial accounting, reporting and internal control related responsibilities. This position will have responsibility for supporting all parts of our financial reporting process and will be expected to understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area. Technical accounting research and position paper writing will also be a requirement of this position.

This position is expected to have a sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, drive positive change across the organization, and enhance partnerships between Accounting and various finance, operations accounting and IT groups. The Sr. Financial Analyst, Accounting will be detail-oriented, possess good communication skills, have advanced Excel skills, and have expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Ad-hoc analyses, participation in various accounting projects, assisting with internal audits are required, as needed.

Key job responsibilities

  • Supporting Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries and reconciling month-end balances

  • Internal financial reporting

  • Month-end close processes inclusive of journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Working cross-functionally with other departments to ensure proper accounting for new or unique transactions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Do you have a MBA, or CPA?

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
