Blue Origin LLC Software-Systems Engineer III - Rocket Engines in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will support the design and development of avionics subsystems that meet Blue Origin's needs for a variety of liquid propulsion rocket engines for multiple spaceflight systems. The avionics subsystem includes the controller electronics, software, harness interconnects, instrumentation and electronic exciter used on the engine for ignition and powered flight. You support your team through requirements development and decomposition, technical trade study support, risk management, integration, verification, and a myriad of other systems engineering-related activities. These responsibilities will require wide application of systems engineering principles and concepts, plus an understanding of avionics and other related subject areas. You will work with the Engines Design Office and your team in using technical standards and processes to enable robust, right-sized avionics development. This includes sharing lessons learned across the Blue Engines programs to continuously improve how Blue Origin develops avionics and engine control systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Mentor, both technically and professionally, less-experienced team members Perform change impact analysis to hardware, unit, or subsystem due to change to high-level software requirements Perform technical trade study support Develop SW test scripts to verify unit or subsystem requirements Draft or review software interface control document (SW ICD) Draft or review software verification plan, descriptions, and capture results Support verification activities for software and subsystem integration Utilize collaboration tools such as Jama, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, and Creo Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in avionics systems including software requirements development Experience with writing test scripts Experience in complex embedded systems development or verification Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications: Experience with DO-178B/C DAL C or higher Experience with model-based systems engineering Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $136,800.00-$191,520.00;WA applicants is $136,800.00-$191,520.00 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
