Amazon Sr. UX Designer, Fire TV Mobile App in Seattle, Washington

Description

We're the Devices & Services Design Group (DDG) at Amazon, an organization that drives design innovation for Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and more. We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer to help reimagine and elevate the Fire TV mobile experience. In this role, you'll drive the vision, definition, and design of the Fire TV mobile app, which enables tens of millions of customers to discover content, control their Fire TV devices, and enjoy entertainment on the go. This is a key initiative to transform how our customers interact with Fire TV through their mobile devices.

We are looking for an experienced designer who excels at creating solutions for TV and mobile platforms, uncovers user needs effectively, leads through ambiguity, and brings strong storytelling abilities to their work. The ideal candidate thrives in remote collaboration across different cultures, maintains excellent team relationships regardless of time zones, and welcomes international travel opportunities.

From the beginning, you will play an integral role in defining problems, building customer journeys, prototyping, and designing delightful and highly-usable digital experiences across both TV and mobile platforms. You will invent and deliver throughout the product development lifecycle and build customer-focused solutions at scale.

This role requires close collaboration with our team in Berlin, Germany. A successful candidate must be comfortable working across time zones, participating in early morning or late evening meetings 2-3 times per week, and traveling to Berlin approximately once per quarter for in-person collaboration with our partners.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end process, from problem definition to delivery.

  • Use business requirements, user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases and high-level requirements to shape product strategy.

  • Work with partners to identify key jobs to be done.

  • Design the UI architecture, interface and interaction flows for new Fire TV mobile experiences.

  • Explore and communicate your ideas for new experiences using wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes.

  • Develop conceptual models that work across a system of devices.

  • Design highly usable digital experiences by rapidly prototyping, testing and iterating on designs with internal partners.

  • Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns.

  • Work with project managers to plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for design.

  • Be a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiences.

  • Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers

  • Guide a cross-functional team and elevate the culture of UX thinking and design excellence

A day in the life

In this highly visible role, you will work on some of the most challenging opportunities on Fire TV. You will use business requirements as well as user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with a team of world-class multi-disciplinary designers, researchers, engineers, product managers and executives. You will use a variety of methods, including wireframes, prototypes, motion studies and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design thinking to senior leadership, engineering and product partners throughout product development.

About the team

You will join a team of designers working across devices to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Customer obsession is at the core of all of our design decisions. We dive deep with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure we are delivering the right things for our customers. We work cross-functionally to craft scalable, cohesive, and usable solutions. The team makes strategic decisions that allow partners to take action, move quickly, take ownership and deliver results.
