Basic Job Functions:

The Nucor Sedalia Electrical Engineers responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking care of our customers by executing the divisions safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives. The Electrical engineers role is to safely maintain electrical components throughout the plant. This includes troubleshooting and repairing, cooperating with and supporting operations, pursuing process improvement, assisting with documentation and training for all equipment, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of electrical theory as applied to power distribution and protection equipment. The Electrical Engineer is expected to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering completed or planned completion by May

  1. Candidates must be willing to occasionally work additional hours beyond their normal

    scheduled shifts, weekends and holidays on a bi-annual basis during plant shutdowns

    and/or as needed due to operational needs

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations,

    without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the U.S

  • Electrical Knowledge - Knowledge of electrical theory, including troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or maintenance of electronic equipment. Thorough understanding of overall maintenance process and specific electrical principles including the following: Electrical theory, Drive Control Systems, PLC Software/Hardware, Ethernet Systems

Preferences:

  • Prior experience in Steel Mill electrical maintenance

  • Knowledgeable of the NFPA/NEC/ANSI/IEEE standards

  • Experience with short circuit studies, including relay co-ordination and arc flash analysis

  • Project Management experience
