We are looking for a Senior EHS Specialist to join our EVC team in Seneca.

BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.

As a Senior EHS Specialist at the Seneca Site, you will support the site EHS programs with a focus on Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety for the Chemical Catalyst production business. You will be part of a team working to drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance, and foster a safety culture.

As a Senior EHS Specialist, you create chemistry by...

  • Leveraging your educational and/or professional background, you will be applying your knowledge of chemistry, toxicology, industrial hygiene, and biological science to identify and propose mitigation for occupational and environmental hygiene hazards (stressors) that could lead to injury, illness, or impairment (e.g., chemical exposure, ergonomics, noise).

  • Utilizing your knowledge of hazard communication, hearing conservation, indoor air quality, personal protective equipment (PPE), and respiratory protection to contribute to responsible management of corporate, local, state, and federal programs and initiatives to improve workplace operations and control hazards (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)).

  • Engaging successfully across the organization to proactively identify and prioritize opportunities, develop sustainable solutions, and execute operational plans designed to foster continuous improvement and overall industrial hygiene and safety performance.

  • Navigating complex audit, compliance, and regulatory processes while managing competing priorities using your analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrating your exceptional safety orientation by collaborating and interfacing with business partners and functional teams where the ability to gain cooperation is critical.

  • Participating in capital project and process hazards analysis reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.

If you...

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Engineering, or a related Science field.

  • Bring at least 5 years of experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) field, with a preference for experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.

  • Possess or be actively working toward professional certifications such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills, including expertise in spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.

  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for managing collaborative projects effectively.
