We are looking for a Technical Lead Operator to join our Catalysts team in Seneca, SC.

BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.

The primary responsibilities of this role include managing Lockout/Tagout (LOTOT) procedures and issuing safe work permits. Additionally, the incumbent will provide technical guidance and process expertise for a specific shift within the department.

During your 12-hour shift as a Technical Lead Operator, you will

  • Ensure equipment preparation and readiness for operation and maintenance by completing or assisting with safe work permits and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

  • Maintain quality of completed work and ensures clean-up of the maintenance area.

  • Act as the point of contact for the next shift regarding upcoming maintenance activities and permits.

  • Verifie and updates equipment-specific LOTO sheets as needed.

  • Support safety and environmental practices, performs various safety audits, and helps achieve the department's zero incident goal.

  • Assist operators with equipment setup and may operate production jobs if the shift is understaffed or to support safety activities.

  • Create and ensures the quality of emergency and planned work notifications, troubleshoots equipment and processes, and provides training and continuous improvement support.

If you...

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.

  • Exhibit good communication and listening skills, with a willingness to actively participate as a team member.

  • Demonstrate high motivation, adaptability to change, and the ability to work under limited supervision.

  • Showcase strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Have working knowledge of the mechanics and operation of various types of process equipment.

  • Be willing to work overtime or different day/night shifts as required and to become an advanced permit writer if not already one.

  • Possess a good overall understanding of processes and capabilities of specialized applications in the Seneca EVC department, with SAP experience being a strong plus.
