We are looking for a designer to work with our new product development team. This person will work closely with mechanical engineers to design, document, and maintain fiber optic connectivity products that CommScope also manufactures. Candidates will be required to be onsite five days a week at our Shakopee, MN facility.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
The Designer will create design concepts and solutions that solve customer problems and model product components and assemblies in CREO CAD software following company practice. This includes managing CAD file versions in the CAD database, requesting prototypes of new designs and collaborating with the lead Design Engineer to evaluate the form, fit and function of prototypes.
Documents designs in drawings and bills of materials per standards and specifications. May also add detailed dimensions to drawings
Collaborates with a Design Engineer to assure materials and designs are meeting relevant specifications
Collaborates with Manufacturing Process Development to ensure components and assemblies are manufacturable
Collaborates with Field Application Engineering to ensure that products are usable by the customer in an application setting.
Initiates release of drawings and bills of materials into the MRP system
Participate in process improvement efforts and group training
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
An associate degree and a minimum of two years of experience in creating 3D-printed prototypes
Familiarity with drawing and tolerance standards
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Experience in plastic molded design
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
Knowledge of SAP
Experience with sheet metal and manufacturing techniques
Experience with ANSYS software
Experience with the product development process in a manufacturing environment
Experience with fiber optic products
