JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Legal Compliance in this position will be part of the Marriott Law Department. This position will provide support to attorneys in the area of business ethics and legal compliance. The Shanghai office is the work location. The support work areas include:

  • Case filing, tracking and administrative reporting.

  • Due diligence legal research.

  • Forensic evidence screening.

  • Internal training and communication materials.

  • Administrative inquiries on policies and procedures.

  • Translation work.

SPECIFIC JOB SUMMARY AND EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Provide administrative and legal research support to compliance attorneys on matters of legal compliance, data, fraud, internal control and business ethics.

  • Support compliance attorneys in due diligence and other local law legal research.

  • Maintain and update case filing, tracking, and regular reporting for compliance attorneys and other compliance stakeholders.

  • Translate local language case files as appropriate and/or required.

  • Under the guidance of the compliance attorneys, implement compliance policies, standards and procedures in the key risk areas and support administrative inquiries from the cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Administrative support of continent and global compliance projects.

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other paralegal legal and attorneys of the Law Department and other business departments.

  • Under the supervision of attorneys, compile and enhance the bilingual contents and designs of compliance communications and training materials.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Successful candidates should possess education and experience as follows:

  • Good academic records with a law degree in PRC or its equivalent abroad.

  • At least 5 years’ substantial paralegal or other equivalent experience at law firms or corporations, with bar qualification preferred.

  • Experience in supporting regulatory, enforcement, investigation and other legal compliance matters highly preferred.

  • Solid analytical, writing, and communication skills in both English and Chinese.

  • Strong administrative and organization skills in supporting supervisors and attorneys.

  • High degree of competence and familiarity with digital tools and applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and virtual collaborations.

  • Team player with the ability to integrate and balance priorities for the benefit of multiple stakeholders.

  • Active learner -- able to enhance personal, professional, and business growth through new knowledge and experiences.
