Township of Shelby Supplemental Facilities Maintenance Worker in Shelby Township, Michigan

The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation, & Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for a Supplemental Facilities Maintenance Worker. Interested applicants must be available to work approximately 30 hours a week. The hourly wage for this position is $22.85 per hour, with no benefits. Applicants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license to operate Township vehicles and equipment. Driver's license must be uploaded to application.

*Experience Required: *Six months related groundskeeping, landscaping or facilities maintenance work experience.

*Minimum Education Requirements: *High School Diploma/GED

Certification/Licensing: the ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License within six months of hire if hired into a future full-time position.

Direct Supervisor: Department Head and/or Employee of Higher Classification

Supervisory Responsibility: None

People Supervised: Direct (0), Indirect (0)

Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, crawl, climb, reach, and maneuver where physical mobility is required to complete the duties of the job.

Primary Work Location: Outdoors

Job Summary: Under the direction of the PRM Supervisor, performs general maintenance, repair, and physical labor duties on a variety of Township equipment, property, and facilities using a variety of vehicles and mechanical equipment. May, for training purposes, perform some of the duties of Maintenance Person I.

Essential Job Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties:

  • Daily opening and closing of Township parks and buildings.
  • Perform routine park maintenance (trash removal, tree trimming, mowing, landscaping, sprinkler repairs, inspecting park equipment and making minor repairs, etc.)
  • Perform routine building maintenance (trash removal, HVAC belt and filter maintenance, painting, cleaning, safety checks on emergency lights and fire extinguishers, minor carpentry requests, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, etc.
  • Perform snow removal duties, (snow plowing parking lots, subdivisions, sidewalks, park trails, and building entryways.
  • Maintain work orders and necessary paperwork for new installations, repairs, installations, and other tasks performed.
  • May where necessary, become certified, and operate heavy equipment. (Hilo, Bucket Truck, Chipper, etc.)
  • Operate power tools, weed whips, zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, shovels, and other related tools.
  • Setup and Cleanup of Township meetings, events, etc.
  • Perform related work as required.

  • Tools, materials, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, landscaping, electrical, and carpentry fields.
