Ranpak Technical Document Specialist - CONTRACT TO HIRE in Shelton, Connecticut
Description
We are looking for a Technical Document Specialist on a six-month contract-to-hire basis to manage, create and provide relevant technical documentation for Ranpak Automation equipment as it relates to user manuals, service manuals and training documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Generate professional level technical documentation for both internal users, customers and Operations personnel for Ranpak equipment, often with limited input and direction.
Responsible for providing up-to-date training documentation and materials.
Ensuring that customers have the needed documentation belonging to the delivered system at the appropriate time.
Develop documentation targeted to specific and varied audience types.
Provide feedback to engineering about incorrect or incomplete machine drawing documentation.
Contribute to the growth of the knowledge base used by the service, quality and product departments.
Provide recommendations to improve the usability, serviceability, and support of the machines.
Coordinate translation (with third parties), enablement of client facing documentation, and release to support international launches. (translations, validation and DTP).
Create and support other documentation needs within the context of product development (eg: Acceptance Test processes/templates, compliance documentation, marketing collateral specs, information to support ISO/Audit compliance, SOPs for Operations, on product ‘help’, HMI translations, or any other requested content development.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field.
At least 5 years of experience in writing and creating technical documentation and training materials for packaging machines or comparable complex machines.
Sense of urgency and desire to collaborate and lead the global standardization and documentation processes.
Ideal candidate will have understanding and experience with large, capital machinery, (Ideally Automation equipment), technical requirements, Human-Interface systems, operations and ability to capture this in professional-level user documentation.
Ability to navigate machine user interfaces (HMI), generate instructions of usage and identify gaps and issues.
Ability to translate CAD files, drawings, output to document compatible images and insert into the manuals.
Understanding of Manufacturing process, testing and the ability to capture details in clear, understandable language.
Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Well organized and structured way of working especially for documentation needs.
System knowledge: MS Office, MS Excel, Engineering drawings (Solidworks PDM, Solidworks Composer, ePlan electrical/other schematics) Experience in using BaaN, Infor LN and SAP is desirable.
Capable of working independently and locating required technical information thru continual interface with Engineering, Operations, Service, Marketing, On-Line content, CAD Vaults, and other sources.
Persistence and ability to complete tasks and deliver professional level documentation in a timely manner.
Familiarity with UL, FCC, CE and ISO regulatory requirements and ability to provide interface, documentation back-up to regulatory bodies and support audits as necessary.
