Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 9-month full-time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in nursing available in Shreveport, Louisiana beginning August 12, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master in Nursing degree required, however, a Doctorate is preferred (required for academic rank of Associate Professor);

  • Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty.

  • Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure.

  • At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.

  • At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience preferred.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.

Job Concepts

Teaching Duties (50%)

  • Teach all classes in a manner that will promote academic excellence to the fullest extent.

  • Provide instruction in areas of expertise.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies appr:opriate to domain of learning.

  • Serve as a role model to students and peers.

  • Assist with development, evaluation and revision of curriculum, policies, and procedures within the College of Nursing.

  • Maintain required office hours.

  • Maintain good attendance.

  • Supervise and evaluate student learning experiences.

Advising (10%)

  • Serve as an advisor and mentor for students in the College of Nursing.

  • Advises students interested in the program and those currently in the program

regarding the curriculum and APDG requirements.

Administrative Duties (10%)

  • Attend College of Nursing and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the College of Nursing goals and objectives.

  • Assist with maintenance of records and files pertinent to the College of Nursing.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy.

  • Serve as a Liaison between the College of Nursing and other University departments as well as local, state, and national agencies and professional organizations.

  • Comply with guidelines/regulations of the University, state of Louisiana, SACSCOC, LSBN, CCNE, ACEN, and/or other agencies as required.

Scholarly Activities (10%)

  • Actively participates in scholarly activities and other creative activities, such as scholarly research; writing books, book chapters, and/or articles; podium or poster presentations.

Service (10%)

  • Recruit students to programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.

  • Participate in activities that promote the College of Nursing, including those that may occur in the evenings, out of town and on the weekend.

Professional Development (5%)

  • Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional education, and development and pursuit of scholarly activities.

Other (5%)

  • Maintain a positive attitude.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Senior Director, Dean, or University Administration.

  • Represent the College of Nursing and University in a professional manner.
