Capitol City Family Health Center Facilities Maintenance Technician (Cleaning) in Shreveport, Louisiana
SUMMARY: The position of Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing timely cleaning and general repairs, maintenance and preventive maintenance needs of facility, grounds, and equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook.
- Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
- Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss, or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
- Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
- Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
- Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
- Work cohesively with team members.
General Cleaning and Maintenance
- Meets daily with supervisor to discuss special needs, problems, and assignments.
- Adheres to a sanitation and cleaning schedule checklist in accordance with OSHA and industry-specific guidelines.
- Performs all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning wall and light fixtures/coverings, and inspection / replacement of light bulbs as needed, etc.
- Maintains lobby, waiting rooms and other clinic areas. Clean glass entry and reception areas of fingerprints, smudges, etc.
- Clean spills and / or accidents following proper protocol and guidelines.
- Executes maintenance needs from wear and tear including but not limited to patching and painting.
- Assists contractors, vendors and/or other staff members on repairs, remodeling, or installation projects.
- Regularly surveys facility, grounds, and equipment and report issues, as necessary.
- Maintains outside of facility by raking debris and cleaning sidewalks and keeping entry areas clear of trash, leaves, with close attention to safety during inclement weather conditions.
- Perform routine daily check of thermostats, air/heat flow, interior and exterior lights, etc. for proper working conditions.
Other Duties
- Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, become familiar with vendor agreements for maintenance schedules of heating and cooling systems.
- Ensures the security of buildings through locks and security system at beginning and end of each business day.
- Keep Facilities Lead and Director of Facilities informed of any safety concerns.
- Responds to emergency problems if applicable to job functions.
- Maintain skill and safety level to operate numerical calculations, cleaning equipment, precision tools, and manual and finger dexterity.
- Performs other facilities duties upon request of Facilities Lead and/or Director of Facilities or designee, including but not limited to routine and specific repairing of equipment, furniture, cabinetry, chairs, desks, file cabinets and fixtures, hanging objects, moving and assembling furniture/equipment.
- Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, obtain instructions for retrieving and delivering packages, equipment, supplies and/or documents to and from various sites.
- Load and unload if and where needed.
- Be timely in delivering packages, equipment, supplies and/or documents, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of janitorial experience in a healthcare setting; preferably one year as a supervisor or two years as a general supervisor and two years of janitorial service in a healthcare setting.
- Must be able to effectively resolve conflicts.
- Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- This position requires a minimum of six months of technical training in facility maintenance experience and / or three years of maintenance janitorial experience, preferably in a private medical or health care setting (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electronics, heating/cooling).
