Catholic Health Services Dietetic Asst in Smithtown, New York
Overview St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, affiliated with Catholic Health, is located in Smithtown, NY on a beautiful 110-acre campus that includes a 290-bed community hospital, a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility, and a 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building. Job Details POSITION SUMMARY: To assist the clinical dietitian with coordinating & assembling information for accurate tray & nourishment preparation & food production. Responsibilities Responsible for patient menus and diets Responsible for coordination of patient menus, diets, and nourishments for each meal. Reviews menus and exercises extreme caution to ensure that the current diet matches the current order. Refers problems and questions to Clinical Dietitian. Prints menus in the morning to be distributed by floor host to patients to complete at breakfast. Prints tallies for each meal24.65 and distributes to appropriate staff. Answers telephone, places room service requests in CBORD and expedites patient requests. Communicates with food production manager, cooks, supervisors, and diet aides regarding changes, patient requests, etc. Demonstrates ability to modify menus, meal plans and diets to meet the needs of age specific groups: pediatric, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. Maintains CBORD computer system information. Maintains and updates patient information in CBORD computer system. Prints nourishment and tube feeding lists to be distributed to appropriate staff. Manages clinical dietary office routine Answers the telephone and expedites related tasks. Maintains an adequate supply of patient menus, diet copies, pencils, office supplies and required forms. Works closely with supervisors, dietitians, and food production personnel to coordinate good patient tray service Creates and maintains an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward patients, families, and staff. Provides an atmosphere, which is customer driven and customer focused. Demonstrates respect for the cultural and religious diversities and needs of the patients, families, and staff. Maintains a positive and supportive attitude toward the mission and goals of Catholic Health Services. REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or GED equivalency preferred. Basic computer skills 1 year food service experience and 90 hour course or equivalent Salary Range Starting from USD $23.00/Hr.
