Pay Rate: $13.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:The Gameday Youth Basketball Staff are essential in delivering a seamless and enjoyable experience for players, families, and spectators at youth basketball events. This role encompasses overseeing key elements of gameday operations, such as managing the gate, running concessions, and operating the scoreboard.

SCHEDULE: This role will involve working on Saturdays, playing a key part in our gameday events and helping to create an engaging experience for all attendees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gate Management:
    • Control entry and exit points to ensure smooth operations.
    • Check tickets or passes and address any admission issues.
    • Provide friendly customer service and assist attendees with their questions.
  • Concessions:
    • Operate the concession stand, including preparing and selling food and beverages.
    • Handle cash transactions accurately using the cash register.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the concession area, and restock supplies as needed.
  • Scoreboard Operation:
    • Set up and manage the scoreboard during games, ensuring accurate recording of scores, fouls, and game time.
    • Coordinate with referees and coaches to display correct game information.
    • Quickly address and resolve any scoreboard issues.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates should have experience with athletics or sports events and a good understanding of basketball and its rules. Experience in gameday setup and operations is also advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of Basketball: Basic knowledge of basketball rules and how the game is played.
  • Customer Service: Ability to help and interact positively with attendees.
  • Cash Handling: Skill in handling money and operating a cash register.
  • Attention to Detail: Careful recording of game scores and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to operate and troubleshoot the scoreboard.
  • Organizational Skills: Keeping the concession stand and gameday setup tidy and efficient.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:N/A

EQUIPMENT:The role requires familiarity with the scoreboard and its controls, a cash register and point-of-sale system, concession stand appliances such as a popcorn machine and drink dispensers, and basic maintenance tools for both the scoreboard and concession area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The job involves standing and moving around for periods of time. Lifting and carrying items like food supplies and equipment is required. The ability to handle a busy environment and multiple tasks is essential. Manual skill is necessary for using equipment like the scoreboard and cash register, and physical strength is required f r setting up and maintaining the concession area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:The role is set in a dynamic, fast-paced environment during youth basketball events. It involves working indoors in areas like the gym and concession stand, interacting with players, families, and staff, and managing crowds while handling multiple tasks.
