Honeywell Wheel CNC Machinist in South Bend, Indiana

As a Wheel CNC Machinist here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in our Aerospace Technologies (AT) business unit in South Bend, IN. You will operate and maintain CNC machines to produce high-quality aircraft wheels. Your expertise in machining and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our manufacturing processes and the overall growth of our business.

You will report directly to our Production Supervisor, and you'll work out of our South Bend location.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on our AT business unit by ensuring the precision and quality of our machined wheels. You will set up and operate CNC machines, monitor the machining process, and perform quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. Your ability to interpret blueprints and work with precision tools will be instrumental in producing wheels that meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up and run CNC lathe machines (Motch, Chiron) to perform operations on production pieces such as nose, inboard, and outboard wheels.

  • Operations performed include, but are not limited to, turning, boring, and roll burnishing while maintaining specific tolerances and measurements.

  • As part of set-up and running of jobs, interact with computer-based controllers to enter or edit job program and tool selection information.

  • Work must also be completed within specific timeframes depending on production schedules.

  • Processes also involve using, reading, and interpreting measuring gages such as, but not limited to, micrometers and calipers to complete and validate work.

  • Understand and interpret Blueprints, specifications, and operating instructions before and while running operations.

  • Inspects against Blueprints and specifications ensuring product meets specified quality standards.

  • Update related paperwork/work instructions upon completion of tasks.

  • Demonstrate safe work habits.

  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.

  • As a team member, demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems leading to continual process improvements and effectiveness of the team

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Due to Federal regulations, candidate must be either a US Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident

  • 3 years of set-up & operation of machine equipment or equivalent military experience.

  • In lieu of 3 years of set-up & operation experience, an associates machining technology degree is acceptable

  • Computer skills that demonstrate tile ability to use CNC interfaces to read, run and edit computer-based machine job programs

  • Math skills that demonstrate a basic understanding of arithmetic

  • Basic reading and writing skills

  • Ability to read, understand, and draw blueprints and measuring gages
