Asynchronous/Hybrid Paramedic Course

This 15 month self-guided asynchronous, hybrid program allows the student to learn online at their own pace and complete assignments, lectures, and discussion boards throughout a weekly period. The student will be required to attend a lab session in-person once per week at our Southfield location either on Thursdays or Fridays from 0900-1500 in order to maintain compliance with State and accreditation standards. Please note that there will be a 2 weeks that require more than one lab session to allow for completion of ACLS and PALS certification. The instructor will have a live WebEx session on Tuesdays from 1530-1730 to answer questions and will be available after lab sessions for questions.

When you register for this program, our admissions coordinator will reach out to schedule an information session to discuss the program requirements and answer questions. This course requires an in-person pretest to ensure the student is ready for the self-study program that will take approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours. The pretest will consist of math- converting decimals to fractions, multiplying/dividing fractions, metric units, converting lbs to kg, multiplication/division, an EMT level exam, and reading comprehension.

Responsibilities:

Applicants will be required to take a pre-placement assessment covering math, English language proficiency, anatomy and physiology, and EMT knowledge. Results will be used to rank candidates from highest to lowest.

    • Hybrid Online- (Must have computer, webcam, microphone, and reliable internet. Webcam required to be on at all times.)
**OPTION- in lieu of a twenty-four (24) month work commitment with Superior Ambulance Service, candidates have the option of paying out-of-pocket for the course. Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license in State of residency

  • Must have current Michigan EMT license

  • Candidates must have a good driving record and pass a criminal background check

  • Candidates will be required to complete a physical, 10 panel drug screen, and lift test all paid for by Superior Ambulance Service.

  • Complete immunization record ** LSTI will work with candidates to ensure completeness
