The Opportunity 

Chapman Cultural Center (CCC), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts and arts education for the Upstate of South Carolina and beyond, is seeking its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization towards a thriving future. 

The CEO is a visionary and experienced leader who embodies the spirit of community and creativity while also demonstrating business acumen and leadership. The ideal candidate is a passionate leader with a proven track record in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community engagement. This role requires a dynamic individual who is adept at navigating change, building relationships, and fostering an environment of excellence in the arts. The CEO must excel in bringing diverse groups together toward a common goal, creating a synergistic community impact.

The ideal candidate will present a combination of these key attributes, skills, and experiences:

  • Fundraiser: Experienced and innovative in fundraising strategies and donor relations. 

  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of nonprofit dynamics with an ability to effectively manage people and resources. 

  • Relationship Builder: Excels in creating and nurturing relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders. 

  • Innovative and Energetic: Skilled in leading organizations through periods of growth and transition with enthusiasm and attention to staff engagement. 

    Key Skills 

  • Visionary and Strategic Leadership: Lead the CCC team and Board of Trustees in developing and executing a strategic plan that aligns the mission and community needs for a thriving future. 

  • Fundraising: In partnership with the Director of Development, spearhead fundraising efforts, including major donor cultivation, grant development, and capital campaigns, to secure the financial health of the organization. 

  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, earned revenue, financial planning, and financial reporting to ensure the organization's resources are managed effectively. 

  • Community Engagement and Collaboration: Act as the face of and chief spokesperson for CCC. Actively engage with and unite various community groups and stakeholders to achieve common objectives, enhance the cultural vitality of the region, and increase visibility for the arts. 

  • Facilities Management: Manage the facilities of CCC, ensuring the facilities are maintained and utilized effectively to support operational and program needs. 

    Key Experiences 

  • Proven track record in fundraising and building donor relationships. 

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational development. 

  • Proven senior management experience, with a preference for experience in the arts or cultural nonprofit sector. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, or related field. 

  • Ability to recruit and retain high-functioning teams.

    Salary is commensurate with the requirements of the position and begins in the $130K range. Benefits include health insurance, a 401K matching plan, a PTO accrual package, and a flexible work environment including the opportunity for a hybrid on-site/remote schedule.
