Law Clinic Paralegal

Job Purpose:

Performs a broad range of support and paralegal duties for Gonzaga School of Law's Clinical Legal Programs as assigned by the Director of clinical law programs and the Office Manager/Assistant to the Director.

Essential Functions:

  • 50% - Administrative Support
    • Performs a wide range of complex paralegal duties requiring independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature.
    • Perform complex word processing tasks such as complex court pleadings, briefs, letters.
    • Manages correspondence for various clinics.
    • Maintains professional and accurate records including confidential reports and information, both in electronic and written format.
    • Scheduling of appointments, calendars, meetings, travel and other events, including the procurement of logistical needs
  • 20% - Grant Reporting
    • Prepare grant reports and grant and periodic statistical reports and annual grant renewal applications.
    • Use spreadsheet database software for related grants.
  • 20% - Legal Word Processing
    • Ensures that legal documents are prepared according established formats and court procedures.
    • Checks legal citations and references, ensures that legal documents are prepared in accordance with established formats.
    • Files documents electronically in various courts

Educational Requirement:

Vocational, Associates, or Technical Degree

Years of Related Experience Requirement:

1 year

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education. 

Certifications and/or Licensures:

Paralegal Certificate

Skills & Abilities:

  • College or course work in paralegal studies
  • Proficient in creating table of contents and table or authorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of related experience

*In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: *5 days/week
