Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician (Birmingham, AL)

Job Description

This role involves traveling 500-2000 miles weekly to Commercial Outlet Stores within the region to perform and complete maintenance work orders. The maintenance tasks include painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, cleaning, welding, drywall, and working with locks. Strong communication skills with customers and technical proficiency are essential. The candidate will primarily work alone but can call for assistance on specific projects.

Responsibilities

  • Drive 500-2000 miles weekly to commercial outlet stores to complete maintenance work orders.

  • Perform tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, cleaning, welding, drywall, and lock repairs.

  • Communicate effectively with customers and store managers about the work being performed.

  • Log hours, document work, and communicate via the internal system using the ADP app.

  • Work independently with occasional assistance for specific projects.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with low voltage electrical work, including troubleshooting light poles, changing breakers, and installing new circuits.

  • Proficiency in residential and commercial plumbing, including drain cleaning and replacing toilets, sinks, and faucets.

  • Experience with painting, including touch-ups and using hand brushes and spray guns.

  • Skilled in drywall hanging and finishing, with experience in Level 5 finish, stucco, or EIFS.

  • Ability to work with brick and stone for masonry tasks.

  • Welding experience, including MIG, stick, and spot welding for gate hinges and fencing.

  • Experience with residential and commercial pad locks and electrical locks.

  • Comfortable with driving 500-2000 miles weekly in a personal vehicle.

  • Experience with traveling positions and using apps for logging hours and documenting work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hand tools required: Angle grinder, tape measure, multimeter, channel locks, spare batteries/charger, circular saw, drywall tools, claw hammer, crescent wrenches, sander, impact driver, speed square, receptacle tester, needle nose pliers, socket/ratchet set, reciprocating saw, drill/driver, levels, non-contact voltage tester, lineman pliers, oscillating saw, battery power tools.

  • Recommended PPE: Steel-toed boots (any boot is fine).

  • Provided PPE: Mask, respirator, harness, goggles, gloves, etc., depending on the project.

Work Environment

The shift is from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. Saturday work is voluntary if needed. The role involves working 10-20 hours of overtime weekly. Training is provided for the first week. The typical day includes 50% indoor and 50% outdoor work, reaching 3-8 clients daily, and communicating with supervisors and store managers. The candidate will work 90%-95% individually and use an internal database to log hours, submit work orders, and review stops.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Lake, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00
