Summary:

Incorporates all aspects of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, II, and III job roles. Demonstrates an expert level of laboratory skills. Serves as a mentor for other Clinical Laboratory Scientists, and assists the Technical Chief with other duties as assigned.

Description

  1. Trains new employees and students.

  2. Performs advanced computer functions.

  3. Oversees data collection.

  4. Liaison to Pathology.

  5. Performs laboratory procedures and calculates, transcribes and records test results.

  6. Manages specimens for analysis, recognizes normal vs. abnormal results; communicates and documents critical values to the appropriate individual.

  7. Performs quality control testing, proficiency testing, and manual results review, IQCP review and QC Lot changes.

  8. Performs maintenance and/or calibration procedures on laboratory instruments and/or equipment then troubleshoots instruments and/or test system malfunctions.

  9. Identifies normal vs. abnormal results; communicates and documents critical values to the appropriate caregiver.

  10. Oversees section supply chain.

  11. Provides CPT updates, EPIC Charge review, coding discrepancies/worklist, etc.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
