Description of Primary Duties
Are you a creative, detail-oriented student with a passion for social media and communications? University Libraries is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Marketing and Communications Student Assistant to join our team! This is an incredible opportunity to develop your skills while supporting the marketing and communications efforts for the library. Here’s what you can expect from this exciting role:
Social Media Management:
Content Planning: Develop, schedule, and post content for the Duane G. Meyer Library’s social media accounts, ensuring alignment with the library’s mission and audience.
Campaign Development: Create and execute social media campaigns to engage the community and increase library visibility.
Engagement: Respond to comments and messages on social media platforms, collaborating with team members (e.g., Coordinator of Public Affairs) for appropriate responses.
Photography & Videography:
Social Media Content Creation: Capture high-quality photos and videos for use on social media platforms, showcasing library events, programs, and resources.
Event Documentation: Photograph and film library events, activities, and programs for social media, promotional materials, and website content.
Stock Photos: Capture a library of stock images for future use in marketing materials.
Social Media Analytics:
Track Metrics: Monitor and analyze social media performance, generating statistics to report on engagement, reach, and other relevant data.
Optimize Strategy: Use insights from data to adjust and improve social media strategies.
Event Support:
Event Assistance: Provide support for library events and activities, including event setup, takedown, and staffing.
Promotion: Promote library events and activities across social media channels and in-person through tabling and other means.
Partner Collaboration:
Identify Partners: Research and identify potential partners for social media collaborations, such as local businesses, influencers, or community organizations.
Develop Partnerships: Build relationships with partners to create mutually beneficial campaigns and cross-promotions.
Graphic Design:
Create Graphics: Design visually appealing graphics for social media posts and online campaigns using design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Brand Consistency: Ensure that all designs follow the library’s branding guidelines for consistency across platforms.
Décor and Design:
Ramp Décor: Assist with the design and execution of visual décor for library spaces, such as the entry ramp or other physical areas, enhancing the library’s overall aesthetic.
Required Qualifications Candidates must be available to work throughout Summer 2025.
