Job Summary:
The Gradeperson is responsible for using surveying instruments to establish correct grade for construction projects.
Duties / Tasks:
Positively participate in the Company Safety and Goal Zero Initiatives and adhere to all safety requirements.
Read construction plans and understand mathematical aspect of grading to complete many functions of the job.
Work closely with site engineers and equipment operators to solve problems.
Measure distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction site.
Verify curvature of graded surface with hand level
Conduct equipment checks and inform mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with equipment.
Conduct ground work as necessary to complete contracts.
Knowledge / Skills:
Mathematical skills are required.
Willingness to learn and take direction.
Ability to collaborate and communicate with equipment operators.
Must have a valid driver’s license (class 5) and reliable transportation to and from work.
Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
