Berrien County Health Department - Nurse Practitioner (Temporary/Part-Time) in St Joseph, Michigan
Nurse Practictioner
- $41.75 - $50.74/ Hour
- Pay depends upon experience.
- This part-time, temporary position allows for a maximum of 1,000 hours per calendar year. It does not include any benefits.
Duties:
- Extends the traditional components of the nursing process to include complete physical examination skills, as well as the management of health care and the treatment of certain defined specific conditions.
- Assesses health status and screens for illness.
- Works with women and families to create and implement a health care plan.
- Manages care regimen for patients within established standing orders.
- Teaches and counsels patients about health and illness.
- Conducts individual and group instruction.
- Interprets physicians' orders and instructions to patients.
- Maintains patient records and follow-up.
- Provides training and support for clinic staff.

Education and Experience:
- Certification as an advanced practice nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Current license to practice as a registered professional nurse.
- Pay for this position is dependent on previous experience; however, no prior experience is required.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license and a vehicle is required.
- In times of a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties inside or outside of Berrien County.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and skills.
- Clear understanding of other agencies' responsibilities and practices as they pertain to public health.
- Awareness of current trends, health issues and patterns of care.
- Working knowledge and appreciation of the contribution of the multidisciplinary team in health services.
- Able to participate in a team relationship.
