As the Quality & Food Safety Manager , you will provide necessary leadership and technical knowledge to ensure superior laboratory services, improve product quality and plant reliability through our Quality & Food Safety Systems. The Quality & Food Safety Manager leads the Food Safety program, supports the plant health and safety objectives, manages the department's costs within budget while looking for ways to lower analytical and quality related costs. This position is the management representative for Quality & Food Safety.

Ensure ESH Compliance
Unsafe conditions are recognized and corrected
Preventive programs are in place to maintain safe conditions
Ensure compliance with MOC process.
Attend monthly safety meeting and completes regulatory ESH&T requirements
Perform job safely, in an environmentally sound manner and in accordance with all cGMP requirements
Support the Carondelet CERT committee, ensuring adequate emergency response.
Actively support the plant ESHST goals and plans.
Manage Quality Assurance & Food Safety Systems
Ensure compliance with GFSI standard
Ensure compliance with HACCP
Ensure compliance with ISO certifications for quality and food safety
Promote continuous improvement in GMP's requirements
Participate as the plant lead for any FDA/USDA audit
Manage the NSF certification
Manage NF compliance
Food safety representative for the site
Manage quality requirements including ISO 9001, NSF, cGMPs, NF, HACCP and GFSI scheme
Facilitate Management Review Meetings/ Quality and Food Safety Meetings
Coordinate input and output data for Management Review
Manage quality and food safety records
Manage shelf life studies
Ensure compliance with required product validations.
Manage external and internal food safety communications
Manage Quality Control
Analytical issues are investigated promptly and corrective actions prevent recurrence
Maintain analytical information in orderly, accessible manner
Facilitate clear, concise communication flow between businesses and laboratory
Coordinate sample requests, identification/disposition of nonconforming material, re-sampling frequency and C of A issues
Establish effective testing protocol for each product.
Provide timely testing and release of all products.
Perform customer specification reviews.
Create and manage materials in SAP.
Efficiently manage batches in SAP by investigating, releasing, downgrading, moving, etc.
Provide Customer Liaison Support
Manage/participate in customer visits/audits
Interface with MTS/Sales
Respond to customer needs
Communicate/advocate plant capabilities
Ensure compliance with corporate imperatives
Manage/participate in supplier audits & visits
Other Administrative Duties
Generate reports, track KPl's and communicate to the organization as needed.
Develop and manage fixed cost budget. Identify and implement cost savings.
Provide operational support to the sites on quality issues
Develop operations personnel to participate in customer activities such as investigation of customer complaints, participation in customer visits and in understanding product applications
Participate in community visits where necessary
Communicate Quality & Food Safety Systems/Quality Assurance news to plant
Support implementation of projects across the plant
Review costs and variances monthly and variances are addressed
Cost improvement ideas and high potential items are pursued
Variances forecast in accordance with controller policies
Manage Staff Development
Provide effective communication
Provide education and training
Train laboratory personnel on SAP quality module and other electronic data systems
Regularly communicate business goals, objectives and desired outcomes
Establish, communicate and enforce acceptable standards of performance and behavior
Provide timely performance feedback
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
At ICL, maintaining a safe and healthy workplace is a top priority. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE based on the task and environment. This may include safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face masks, and, when necessary, full hazmat suits with respirators. Adherence to PPE protocols ensures the safety and well-being of all team members.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
B. A. or B. S. degree in food or scientific related degree required
Three to five years' experience managing people preferred
Three to five years' experience working in an analytical laboratory required
Demonstrated organizational leadership, teaching, team-building, staffing
Demonstrated experience developing and managing fixed cost budget.
Experience working in a food grade facility
Experience performing and understanding of microbiological testing methods.
GFSI understanding. (SQF certification preferred)
FDA Food Defense understanding (certification preferred)
ISO 9001:2015 knowledge and auditor experience desired (certification preferred)
Current good manufacturing Practices (cGMP) understanding
Current good Laboratory Practices (cGLP) understanding
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) understanding (certification preferred)
Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
Salary Range: $89,000 - $123,000
Annual Bonus Target : 12%, subject to plan provisions.
