Emerson Windows Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

This position provides global operational support, both request fulfillment and incident management, for services hosted in the edge, private and public cloud at Emerson. An engineer is responsible for installation/configuration, operation and support of Windows systems hardware and software related infrastructure.

Tasks will be focused on maintaining high availability, performance, and security of Windows based server systems that are provided by our Hosting Services. The Engineer may also work with a lead engineer when migrating, onboarding new clients, or acting as a point of escalation for clients using Windows environments as well as participating in strategic projects and initiatives. As part of the position, the engineer will record information relayed from the customer and the fix steps performed along with their corresponding results accurately in the case management system (ServiceNow). They will proactively identify and take steps to resolve or eliminate recurring incident types and participate in process improvement and knowledge documentation activity to positively impact customer satisfaction and increase operating effectiveness and efficiency. This role will focus on Windows engineering covering Microsoft Azure, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Private Cloud.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Plan and support lifecycle of Windows OS

  • User and Group management

  • Security and access management

  • Security and patch management

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • 3+ years of relevant experience commensurate with the level of the position (including Co-op and Internship).

  • Experience with Azure, AWS and OCI.

  • Experience with Virtual technologies: VMWare, Nutanix AHV, Hyper-V

  • Experience with RHEL, SLES, OEL

  • Fundamental knowledge Oracle EBS, Oracle DB and SAP

  • Experience in shell scripting and automation

  • Experience in patch management and upgrade processes

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and issue resolution while providing RCA

  • Proven understanding of network configurations, TCP/IP, iSCSI and kernel configurations

  • Solid grasp of performance analysis and tuning

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Experience in supporting applications in public cloud environments.

  • Experience working requests and incidents from ServiceNow ticket queues.

  • Fundamental understanding in a network and/or cybersecurity field.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.

  • CompTia Cloud+, Network+ and/or Security+ Independent, critical thinker, capable of advance problem solving

  • Experience of working in a multi-site global environment and multi-site deployment providing business continuity

  • Understanding of ITIL processes
