The Community Affairs Administrative Coordinator (Executive 2) plays a critical role in supporting the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Community Affairs office. This position provides high-level administrative, executive, and public engagement program support to ensure smooth operations, strategic coordination, and effective community engagement efforts.
- Must be able to work occasional weekend, in order to represent DPS at community events and/or provide support to agency leadership during public safety emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Leadership and management skills sufficient to direct staff to achieve goals and make effective decisions when leading a unit, staff, or project team
Ability to work collaboratively with department and division employees at all levels
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
Project planning and operations ability in order to organize projects, negotiate resources, and ensure successful completion
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Minnesota state government operations while providing support to a senior leadership position or team
Experience with Smartsheet
Experience in developing and implementing administrative procedures and guidelines in a new or evolving department.
Strong event planning and coordination experience, including virtual and in-person events
Experience managing procurement, P-Card transactions
Familiarity with public relations, stakeholder engagement strategies, or communications planning
Certification or training in project management, community engagement (e.g., IAP2)
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
