This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.

As a Data and Analytics Portfolio Supervisor manages the strategic vision, roadmap, governance, and budget, overseeing the Portfolio evolution of the Data Analytics Repository. They will supervise and lead a team of data professionals in creating and managing a data and analytics strategy that will enable data as a service through modern tools that will be the foundation of everyday actives. This position provides hands-on leadership, business relationship management, management, and guidance to DOC and MNIT executive leadership and their direct reports.

This role will bring consistency and scalability of experience across portfolio working closely its customers to identify Portfolio visions, roadmaps, and features that consider empathy, equity, and people centricity to enhance the user experience and maximize the value to internal and external customers. They will lead stakeholder engagement for the portfolio line and manage relationships across teams within the portfolio. The Data and Analytics Portfolio Supervisor is a servant leader with a growth mindset who inspires the portfolio teams to achieve portfolio line objectives, fosters innovation, encourages cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing, and mentors and develops Portfolio teams and Portfolio team members.

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last up to three (3) years.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St Paul, Minnesota

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience computer science and data architecture.

Experience must include:

  • Two (2) years of lead work or supervisory experience.

  • Experience in applicable technologies (NoSQL, SQL, Python or other similar language, ETL, data warehousing, data lakes, modeling, and architecture.

  • Product Ownership principles and practices sufficient to determine program direction sufficient to guide, respond, and engineer broad customer needs.

  • Experience with building data products in a cloud environment using lead principles of data governance and data management best practices.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisor or management experience.

  • Knowledge of thedepartments’ policies, procedures, and programs and business goals.

  • Expertise in implementing enterprise reporting, data access control, and data retrieval performance using new data products in an Azure Government Cloud environment.

  • Experience as product owner or manager for Cloud based data products.

  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, coaching and/or staff development skills; strong interpersonal skills; and demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
