YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg Swim Lesson Coordinator, Jim and Heather Gills Branch in St Petersburg, Florida
Must have the following in order to apply:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of One (1) year of experience in recreation, pool management, lifeguard, swim instructor, or water park experience
- Experience supervising staff and developing pool and class schedules
- Knowledge of swim lesson programming
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Must be able to professionally explain and enforce rules and policies to members, participants and staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college coursework preferred

**Job Description: Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Lesson Coordinator provides leadership and supports operations to the Aquatics Department which includes swim lesson instructors. Aids in ensuring the safety of all participants in or around the YMCA pool.
Duties and Responsibilities:**
Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA
Assists with developing and implementing consistent and frequent in-service training for swim lesson staff
Assists with swimming lessons via helping print rosters, communicating with parents, keeping track of materials and replenishing supplies
Assisting instructors with any needs
Ensure all facility policies, rules, regulations and health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, ensuring the well-being of all participants, guests, members and staff
Serves as Deck supervisor during busy hours of camp season, swim lessons
Helping manage a high volume of lifeguards, coordinating rotations, and performing secondary duties
Handles member concerns or situations that arise in absence of the Aquatics Director and Aquatics Coordinator
Assists with recruiting, training, developing, scheduling, and directing Aquatics staff as needed
Onboarding of new swim lesson instructors
Ensure all staff are current with required certifications
Maintain compliance with required documentation of pool operation
Have an understanding of the operations of the Aquatic Department
Assists with reviews and evaluation of staff performance
Help develop strategies to motivate staff and
