About you and this role
We are currently looking for aSenior Expert in Waste Management, primarily based inGermanyat one of the following locations:Boehlen, Schkopau, or Stade.Other major European locations might also be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Supply Chain Technology and Improvement Manager, responsible for leading Environmental Supply Chain global improvement efforts around external treatment of waste including disposal and recycling. This role exists to support the management of external waste treatment from Dow sites globally. The primary focus of the role is to identify and implement waste management improvements, primarily in EMEAI, but also globally.
The Environmental Supply Chain (EnvSC) team is part of the Environmental Technology Center and provides competitive services to Dow businesses and sites to reduce risk, reduce costs, and meet compliance and sustainability objectives around waste management and waste treatment.
You are a team player that requires minimal supervision. You have experiences and interest in environmental compliance and environmental related improvement projects. You are organized, able to complete work within both company required and self-defined deadlines. You enjoy working with people both inside and outside of Dow at various locations. You possess the ability to work with large amounts of data, compiling information into understandable reports to enable action. You have a bias for action to improve work processes and leverage best practices in diverse geographical and regulatory landscapes.
In this role, you will be required to work across multiple businesses and geographies to identify and implement improvements in waste management processes and costs.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain waste treatment cost tracking database and analyze waste cost data to identify improvement areas across regions and businesses.
Serve as Waste Management Focal Point for Waste Services Purchasing representatives for all regions, coordinating and improving external waste treatment activities.
Provide technical support for waste minimization projects, troubleshooting, and waste characterization activities, aligning with corporate sustainability goals and to Dow outplants and terminals regarding waste streams and waste treatment.
Manage the EMEAI/AP 3rd Party Waste Treatment Facility Audit Program, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Identify and evaluate treatment technologies for potential new waste streams, serving as a Subject Matter Expert on related projects.
Serve as Waste Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) on projects or initiatives which have the potential to generate new waste streams and provide support and expertise for waste characterization activities for EMEAI/AP.
Lead efforts in EMEAI/APAC to minimize waste and find higher value opportunities for potential waste streams.
Support the implementation of the upcoming Global Waste Management Standard, ensuring adherence and best practices.
Qualifications
At least a Bachelor of Science in in Engineering, Biology, Environmental Technology, or another related field.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in operations or a waste management related field.
Understanding of current and upcoming EU, regional, and local regulations pertaining to waste and environmental management to ensure compliance with legal standards.
Proven experience in managing projects, particularly in a multinational and cross-functional environment, including working with third-part vendors.
Working knowledge of SAP and Analytics Tools.
Understanding of and experience in EMEAI Waste Management.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
