Insight Global Data Platform Engineer in Stamford, Connecticut

Job Description

A client is looking for a Data Platform Engineer to sit onsite in Stamford 3 days per week and sit remote 2 days per week. They will be responsible for the support and maintenance of data and application platforms operating in a 24/7 production environment. Their role will be 50% operations in terms of performance tuning, making sure backups and upgrades are on track, and monitoring and running regular health checks to make sure applications and data platforms are running properly. The other 50% of their day will be spent on project work requested by the business or technical leadership. This could include moving data or applications to the cloud, building a SharePoint site and integrating data, creating reports in SSRS or PowerBI, building and implementing disaster recovery solutions, setting up a SQL server replication to replicate data from one database to another, consolidating databases onto less servers, etc. This person will work closely with development teams to optimize code and understand how data platforms and applications could be performing better where needed. This person needs strong communication skills along with technical skills to work cross functionally across the business and technology. This Engineer needs to be comfortable with $50-55/hr on contract depending on experience, with the opportunity for a higher salary upon conversion.

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of experience designing and supporting production data platform environments

2+ years of experience supporting AWS or Azure applications

2+ years of experience working with Microsoft 365 Solutions such as SharePoint, Power Automate/Flow, or PowerApps

Strong recent experience monitoring, upgrading, patching, and performing backups for database applications

Experience in T-SQL, with the ability to optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot performance issues

Experience with programming languages, particularly .NET and Python

Experience with scripting and automation

Strong communication skills null
