Community Health Systems Paramedic in Statesboro, Georgia

Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Paramedic utilizes technical knowledge base to provide patient care as well as cross-trainable technical services for all age groups (neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) in cooperation with other members of the health care team.

Essential Functions

  • Performs patient care tasks in a safe and competent manner without deviation from the standard of care or hospital policy and procedure.

  • Coordinates care with the RN and other interdisciplinary care to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Demonstrates ability to recognize changes in patient status and report changes to RN immediately. Assist in providing appropriate interventions in a timely manner.

  • Maintains complete and timely documentation that assures accurate reflection of care provided.

  • Provides appropriate communication with multidisciplinary team members, patients and their families.

  • Maintains communication with RN throughout entire shift to ensure accuracy of information and care provided.

  • Promptly responds to patients request for assistance in professional and effective manner.

  • Safely administers medications utlizing the five rights of medication adminsitration.

  • Utilizes Electronic Medical Record (EMR) medication scanning to ensure safe medication administration.

  • Assists in facilitating throughput throughout the department.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Technical School Graduate of an accredited program in paramedic science and with current state of employment license/certification. required

  • 0-1 years current EMT-P experience preferred

  • 0-2 years Acute Care hospital experience preferred

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to develop and deliver health education and training programs.

  • Ability to establish strong rapport and relationships with patients and staff.

  • Ability to work under stressful situations.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Certification EMT-P required or

  • PARAMEDIC - Paramedic – Licensed Licensed Paramedic with State Registry/Board required

  • Health Services\ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support required

  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
