The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook Postdoctoral Associate in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualification (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Pharmacology or a closely related field in hand by June 2025. Experience in biochemical, molecular, gene editing techniques and animal models.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience with transcriptional regulation, biochemistry, stem cell biology, kidney organoid, bioinformatic analysis, mouse embryonic development and mouse genetics.

Brief Description of Duties:
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in the research laboratories of Dr. Peter Igarashi and Dr. Siu Chiu Chan within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Department of Medicine, Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University. The successful candidate will actively participate in research projects to identify the role of dysregulated transcriptional mechanisms during initiation and progression of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail.

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of transcriptional regulation, signal transduction and animal models of PKD.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.
