By engineering custom materials with uncommon purity and unwavering precision, Momentive Technologies gives our customers the freedom to think big and develop transformative products that benefit mankind on the grandest of scales. Together, Momentive Technologies and our customers are reshaping the world. Ceramic Co-Op Engineer The ceramic division of Momentive Technologies is one of the world's largest producers of advanced hexagonal boron nitride (BN) and other specialty advanced ceramics. Boron nitride is a unique material that has excellent thermal conductivity but is electrically insulating, soft, lubricious and chemically inert. Our products are sold into a variety of industries, including electronics, aerospace, semiconductor, plastics, metallurgy, abrasives, and cosmetics. Our technology team is constantly exploring opportunities to innovate, develop new products, and extend our product offerings to new customers and markets. The project will provide excellent experience in working with a team of engineers solving real life problems in cutting edge applications. High performance thermally conductive and light-weight materials are desired in innovative thermal management designs for more efficient heat dissipation in today's high power electronic devices. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is regarded to be one of best ceramic fillers for high thermal conductivity, low dielectric constant, and light weight polymer based thermal management materials. Project Description: The project encompasses exploring BN powder morphologies, characterizing their performance in polymer composites, and evaluating new approaches to enable next generation thermal management solutions for high performance devices such as EV power electronics and AI chips. The co-op will work on developing cutting-edge approaches to improve BN-Polymer composite properties such as thermal conductivity and viscosity. The co-op will work individually and as a team with engineers to evaluate different approaches, formulate test plans, design experiments using six sigma tools, execute these tests, and analyze the data. The co-op will gain hands on experience in optimizing the formulation and preparation of BN-Polymer composites with lab-scale tools and in characterizing BN-Polymer composite materials. The co-op will gain experience in writing technical reports and will have opportunity to present the results to technical and commercial audiences. This co-op project will be carried out in collaboration with and under the guidance of a team of experienced engineers for 6 months. The co-op will be provided with necessary training and support, such as statistical skills training, tools & resources throughout their work. Qualification & Desired skills: Master's or PhD student/candidate in materials science, polymers science, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or related field Independent research capability and good at working 'hands on' Experience with ceramic powders/solids, thermoset polymer composites formulation and testing, additives and functionalization for polymers is preferred. Skills in TGA, DSC, FTIR, light-scattering particle size analyzer, SEM, TEM, XRD, centrifugal mixer, and thermal characterization (Laser Flash or Hot Disk) are preferred. Should have ex
