Amazon Quality Assurance Engineer, Alexa Devices Product QA, Alexa Devices in Sunnyvale, California

Description

Lead the testing of large-scale systems, create test plans, test cases, and drive continuous improvements to the quality assurance processes using Internet and Web technologies including Apache, HTTP, XML, HTML, Load Balancing, and DNS. Develop tests using Java and Shell Scripts in a Linux environment, document and coordinate the deployment of manual and automated tests for complex systems, and test mobile device development kits and device frame works. Design and build automated test cases for mobile device based graphical user interface using test automation frameworks such as VNC Robot and Java. Design, develop, and execute quality assurance test cases and support tests for large-scale, distributed software systems using Java including white and black box tests. Work closely with engineers, business owners, and customer service professionals throughout the development and testing lifecycle, including the requirements gathering and design. Consult with and advise project management and development teams on technical issues related to planning, developing, implementing, and modifying testing procedures. Use functional specifications to plan, create, or sign-off on test plans, test cases, and automated test cases. Provide regular, detailed status report on project progress, including test cases executed, bugs discovered, and bugs fixed.

The Role:

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will join the team of hands-on, passionate and seasoned SQA professionals developing innovative consumer-centric product solutions. In this role, you will:

Create test plans and test cases

Automate tests using internal and open source tools & infrastructure

Review user interfaces for conformity, functionality and performance

Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines

Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution

Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process

Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented. Understand performance impacts over the product.

Amazon Echo changed the way we get information, music, and control our homes by introducing customers to Alexa, Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. The mission of the Echo Devices and Experiences team is to surprise and delight customers with more ways to access and engage with Alexa.

As the product QA team for the Echo family of products, we are constantly thinking about new ways to improve the lives of our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience

  • Experience in automation testing

  • Experience in manual testing

  • Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium

  • Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
