Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test, Silicon Systems Group in Sunnyvale, California
Description
As a Sr.SDET within SSG team, you will own automation framework development and execution of test strategy, tooling and automated performance test to deliver high quality software to meet customer requirements. You will see around corners to manage dependencies, dive deep with PEs, SDMs, QAMs and engineers across the SSG organization, and regularly communicate with senior leaders, and stakeholders at all levels. You will amplify your impact working closely with team members and software development managers to drive mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions and high quality solutions.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure; all while achieving high quality results. You should have deep knowledge of software engineering practices, understand how software and hardware systems interact, and can drive design and implementation of test strategies in highly complex and ambiguous systems. Familiarity with embedded systems is desired.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the design and development of test infrastructure, framework, that encourages the optimal combination of unit/component/integration and end to end tests.
Collaborate with software engineering teams, driving continuous development, integration and deployment
Working with Principal Engineers and other Senior engineers to develop best practices for software quality assurance across multiple software teams
Actively participate in cross team design reviews
Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community
Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and expertise.

A day in the life
Although each day may bring new challenges, the majority of your time we will be creating test strategies, new automation, test tools and infrastructure. We collaborate closely with software development teams to achieve a high quality releases that meet tight timelines without introducing new regressions or lowering product quality.

The Amazon Silicon Systems Group (SSG) is part of the Amazon Devices team. We design and engineer high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Echo devices. Our portfolio also includes innovative devices like Amazon Echo buds, Echo Frames and Echo Auto. What will you help us create next?
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field
7+ years experience in scripting, test code development, test frameworks and test tools in Python, Java.
7+ years experience in designed and implemented automated testing frameworks, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and monitoring systems.
5+ years experience with Linux OS and shell-scripting
Knowledge of QA methodology and tools.
Clear written and verbal communication
Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years experience in embedded systems, and devices automation.
Expert in DevOps, Automation testing, automation framework development, software quality and testing methodologies
Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
Experience in transforming manual testing to automated testing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
