Philips Electromagnetic Design Engineer-Campus in Suzhou, China

We are seeking a talented MRI Superconducting Magnet and/or Gradient coil Electromagnetic Design Engineer to join our team. If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology and eager to contribute to the advancement of medical science, we want to hear from you.

Your role:

  • Conduct the electromagnetic design of superconducting magnets and/or Gradient coils for MRI systems, ensuring they meet performance, quality, cost, and safety standards.

  • Perform electromagnetic simulations and calculations to optimize magnet and gradient coil designs for high magnetic field homogeneity to meet specifications, ensure stability, achieve energy efficiency, while balancing manufacturing feasibility and cost-efficiency.

  • Perform electromagnetic simulations and calculations to optimize magnet & gradient coil EM interaction to reduce the eddy current, vibration, and thermal margin in the magnet and gradient coil etc.

  • Investigate and implement quench protection measures, including design and analysis of quench detection and energy dissipation systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, physicists, and technicians, to integrate magnet and gradient coil into MRI machines.

  • Conduct research to stay updated on emerging superconducting materials and magnet technologies and incorporate them into magnet design where applicable.

  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including schematics, specifications, and testing procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve magnet and gradient coil related issues during the development and manufacturing process.

  • Participate in prototype testing and validation, making necessary design adjustments based on test results.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.

  • Provide technical expertise and support to other engineers and team members.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for optimization in magnet and gradient coil design and manufacturing processes.

You're the right fit if:

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree.

  • Background in Electrical Engineering or Physics from undergraduate to PhD level.

  • Proven experience in electromagnetic design and analysis, focus on magnets and/or gradient coils.

  • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, Opera, ANSYS) and electromagnetic modeling tools (MATLAB, Python, C++ etc.).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and skilled in time management.

Desired:

  • Experience with (superconducting) magnets and/or gradient coils for MRI applications.

  • Proficiency in meeting the requirements for magnets and/or gradient coils is beneficial.

  • For superconducting magnets:

  • Demonstrated capability in achieving high homogeneity in superconducting magnet designs is preferred.

  • A strong understanding of superconducting magnet quench and protection principles is advantageous.

  • For gradient coils:

  • A strong understanding of gradient coil electromagnetic design and optimization is preferred.

  • A strong understanding of electromagnetic force analysis for gradient coils is beneficial.

  • Having strong design capabilities for both magnets and gradient coils is a significant advantage.

  • A strong understanding of superconducting materials and their properties is preferred.

  • Knowledge of magnet structure and assembly is a plus.

  • Knowledge of gradient coil structure and the manufacturing process is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with quality control processes and industry standards in medical device manufacturing is advantageous.
