News Corp Australia Principal UX Designer in Sydney, Australia
What’s the role?
We are seeking a Principal UX Designer to play a critical role in shaping UX design excellence across our team. This position focuses on supporting the development and elevation of the skills of team members, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Reporting to the Head of Digital Product Consumer Experience, and working alongside the Principal UX Researcher and Product Design Lead, this role will lead by example, balancing hands-on UX design work as well as offering additional support to team members, ensuring their contributions align with business and user goals.
Key Responsibilities
Drive UX design excellence by contributing to critical projects and raising the bar for quality across the team.
Provide additional support to team members, helping them develop their craft and grow professionally.
Collaborate with the Principal UX Researcher and Product Design Lead to implement best practices and processes that enhance team workflows.
Contribute to the team’s design systems, ensuring their scalability, maintainability, and consistency across products.
Act as a trusted advisor within the team, fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative working environment.
Advocate for a data research-driven culture, promoting the value of user insights across the organisation.
Provide UX design leadership within the team, including conducting peer-to-peer reviews and offering constructive feedback.
Who are you?
About You
7+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 2+ years in a mentoring or leadership capacity.
Deep expertise in user and interaction design, with a strong understanding of accessibility and usability.
Experience contributing to and evolving design systems.
Passionate about fostering a research-driven culture, and promoting the value of user insights across an organisation.
Skilled in fostering professional growth and inspiring individual UX designers of all skill levels.
Adept at balancing hands-on UX design responsibilities with team support and guidance.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate UX decisions and advocate for best practices within the team.
Comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative environment and managing competing priorities.
Passionate about delivering high-quality UX design solutions that balance user needs and business goals.
