SUNY Upstate Medical University Federal Work Study- Pathology Research Assistant in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Dr. Jamaspishvili is looking for students who will immediately be available to work on an ongoing immunooncology research project in her lab. Dr Jamaspishvili is conducting translational and clinical cancer research projects in collaboration with other clinical departments (hematology-oncology, urology, radiology) and disciplines (computer science, bioinformatics, epidemiology). The project title is: “Studying the prognostic and predictive role of PD-L1 expression on digital pathology images using artificial intelligence in a pan-cancer retrospective patient cohort undergoing immunotherapy”.
The project is extensive and requires assembling a retrospective research cohort of SUNY Upstate patients (n=900) diagnosed with advanced/metastatic lung and other cancers and who were candidates for immunotherapy.The students should be enrolled in a graduate Medical, Health Sciences or Public Health program. They will perform a rigorous chart review and extract clinical and pathological information from the electronic medical record (EMR) system: EPIC and Co-Path. Students will have two mentors: Dr Jamaspishvili, principal investigator (Department of Pathology) and Dr Alina Basnet, co-investigator (Department of Hematology-Oncology) and will have the opportunity for exposure to cutting-edge translational and clinical research.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.
