SUNY Upstate Medical University Outpatient Administrative Specialist in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Outpatient Administrative Specialist position in the Rehabilitation Psychology department is responsible for processing referrals and authorizations, provides clinical secretarial support to providers, and general office duties, including patient check in and check out and provide back up coverage for support staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and two (2) years relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience and relevant experience, working knowledge of medical terminology, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills required. Knowledge of medical billing requirements and ability to recognize insurance fraud/abuse strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of computer systems such as Epic, Word, Outlook, etc. and understanding of insurances and referrals, preferred.

Work Days:

8:00 - 4:30
