Robert Half Staff Accountant in Syracuse, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the healthcare and social assistance industry in Syracuse, New York. In this role, you will manage various accounting tasks, including general ledger operations, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and ledger reconciliations to ensure timely month-end close procedures.

• Ensure accurate recording of revenue from EMR and billing systems monthly, including gross revenue charges, contractual adjustments, and bad debt expense.

• Regularly perform account receivable analyses to monitor customer accounts and take appropriate actions.

• Assist in the preparation of intercompany reconciliations to maintain accuracy in financial statements.

• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.

• Participate in the annual external audit by providing necessary information and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Take on special projects or other tasks as assigned to support the accounting department.

• Conduct account analysis to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Workday to streamline accounting processes. Requirements • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proven work experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role in the Healthcare, Hospitals, or Social Assistance industry

• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles

• Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Proficiency in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Ability to maintain the General Ledger and make necessary Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Proficient in QuickBooks, SAP, and Workday software

• Strong data entry skills along with a knack for numbers

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Must possess a strong ethical framework and professional integrity

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
