Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for a Contract Payroll Specialist to join a respected construction company in Tacoma, WA. This temporary role offers an excellent chance to utilize your expertise in payroll while contributing to the smooth operation of an industry-leading business.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing: Manage full-cycle payroll processing for both union and non-union employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll operations.
Union Reporting: Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements, including processing union dues, benefits, and reporting requirements.
Timekeeping Management: Review, validate, and resolve discrepancies in timesheets, utilizing electronic timekeeping systems and manual adjustments, as needed.
Compliance: Ensure payroll processes comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax withholdings, overtime rules, and wage compliance standards.
Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information while ensuring confidentiality.
Benefits and Deductions: Calculate and process employee benefit contributions, garnishments, and other payroll deductions.
Audit Support: Assist with internal audits and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliations.
Collaboration: Work closely with HR and Accounting teams to resolve payroll-related issues and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, preferably within the construction industry; familiarity with union payroll is highly desirable.
Software Proficiency: Experience with payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, or similar) and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws; exposure to union contracts is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and a commitment to ensuring error-free payroll processing.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills, especially with payroll discrepancies.
Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
