POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of Party Chief or Project Quality Manager, applies skills and knowledge to determine degree of conformance of installation of materials and equipment to MasTec Industrial and/or Client specifications. Performs inspection and/or layout of various project activities, generates reports of conditions found during inspection activities, and notifies management of significant problems. Completes documentation to attest to satisfactory inspection or test activities. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features; transmits survey data to the proper files in the computer network and be able to acquire the data for field use. Calls out reading or writes station number and reading in notebook. Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark. Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain. Marks measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scribe or stakes. Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy. Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain or current installations Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features. Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS). Load/unload equipment and prepare for daily jobs.
