Your Specific Responsibilities:
The administrator works within the Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation and manages a regulatory program within the Boards of Chiropractic Medicine, Nursing Home Administrators, Clinical Laboratory Personnel, Optometry, and licensure programs of Medical Physicist and EMT/Paramedics. The position reports to the Board Executive Director and is responsible for the licensure of health care practitioners.
The administrator:
Supervises two-unit supervisors and is responsible for all supervisory duties of them and their staffs including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. This also includes spending a major portion of time communicating with, motivating, and training employees so they can perform effectively and efficiently.
Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, and work objectives for the Board office to ensure the best use of time and resources. This also includes confirming effective methods are utilized for optimal communication throughout the entire Board office, coordinating staff meetings so they are conducted on a regular basis, evaluating policies and procedures and recommending changes to improve processes and efficiency, and functioning as Acting Board Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
Ensures application processing and eligibility decisions are completed in accordance with established criteria and time frames of laws and rules, including that supervisors monitor the accuracy and timeliness of application and licensure data in LEIDS, and that security procedures are followed to prevent breach of confidentiality and loss of records. This also includes managing the revision and processing of licensure applications and/or forms.
Analyzes and assists in the development of new policies and procedures to implement board, department and/or legislative directives which establish new or additional requirements efficiently and effectively for licensure
Manages the preparation of licensure agendas for application approval by the Board.
Makes presentations to the Board and Board Committees.
Participates in the Board office management and leadership team, assuming lead responsibility for special projects and activities as assigned by the Executive Director and coordinating the functions with other team members.
Communicates verbally and in writing to provide guidance to educators, the general medical community, applicants, and licensees regarding the statutory, rule and policy requirements of the licensure program.
Analyzes, formulates, and recommends proposals to rules and legislation.
Research laws, rules, and regulations in preparing correspondence for the Governor, Security of the Department, Board Chairman and Executive Director.
Conducts necessary research and prepares statistical and other data reports relating to licensure, discipline, budget, and other functions of the board within established deadlines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Extensive knowledge of laws and rules for professions regulated by this office, and procedures of Department, Board, and licensure programs.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Supervisory skills.
Computer knowledge and ability – including use of LEIDS reporting system.
