AC Disaster Consulting Debris Monitor - Florida Gulf Coast in Tampa, Florida

Position Summary:

  • Job Title: Debris Monitor

  • Full Time or Part Time: Full Time

  • Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary. Must be available to start immediately.

  • Compensation: $20 with overtime expected

  • Benefits Summary: Not eligible for benefits.

  • Travel/Location: Florida Gulf Coast - multiple locations - no lodging or other expense reimbursement provided

Mission of Role/Position Summary:

Be part of a team of knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful allies for our clients. AC Disaster Consulting is seeking Debris Monitors/Inspectors to assist in the removal of debris generated by a natural disaster in your area. The Debris Monitors/Inspectors will play an integral part of helping citizens and communities recover from natural disasters. Applicants should be passionate about making a difference in the world, and interested in supporting local, state, and federal jurisdictions prepare for and recover from disasters.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Report to designated areas at an assigned time.

  • Attend safety and operational briefings.

  • Work with contractors and crews on-site and report daily or as needed to assigned leadership/field supervisors.

  • Report to designated areas at assigned times.

  • Monitor the collection of disaster-generated debris from authorized areas and documenting the work as it is performed.

  • Ensure that only FEMA eligible debris is removed, loaded and hauled to disposal site.

  • Work with contractors and crew in the field and report to the Field Supervisor.

  • Operate a Smart Phone Application or Hand-Held Unit to record vital information.

  • Ensure that debris loads are properly contained in the loading container.

  • Record and report any damage resulting from debris removal operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work outside for long hours in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to pass a Background Check, as needed.

  • Be highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Be an active listener.

  • Possess strong time management skills, along with strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to write legibly.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities expected for this role

Expected Hours of Work:

Expected schedule 6-7 days per week up to 12 hours per day. Schedule may vary. Work on evenings and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25% travel is expected for this position.

  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility required on-site with clients.

  • Driving/sitting/standing for hours at a time

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Working Environment:

  • This is an on-site position in varying weather conditions in possible adverse conditions and debris sites with a moderate noise level.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience and knowledge to ensure only FEMA eligible debris is removed, loaded and hauled to the disposal site.

  • Willing and able to work with contractors and crews on-site and report daily or as needed to assigned leadership/field supervisors as positive representatives of the company.

  • Willing and able to report to designated areas at assigned times.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites and access to reliable transportation for travel within the region this position serves.

  • Must reside within the commuting distance of the project area.

  • Access to a reliable vehicle and possess current, valid car insurance and a good driving record.

  • Access to a smart phone if needed and ability to operate any tablets or devices required.

Additional Preferred:

  • Two or more years debris monitoring/multiple storm experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US.

  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.

  • Reliable vehicle to use during work hours

  • Cell Phone/Smart phone

  • Steel Toe Work Boots

  • Current Valid Driver's License

  • Clean Driving History

  • Proof of current Insurance in your name for vehicle being used

  • Proof of Registration for vehicle being used may be required

  • Ability to pass a Criminal Background check
