Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance:

• Interviews clients to determine the need and eligibility to receive services
• Prepares correct and complete client records
• Refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same
• Ensures compliance with program policies and procedures
• Performs a variety of clerical support work including routine typing, filing, and photocopying of reoccurring correspondence, forms, lists, logs, records etc.
• Answers the telephone and provides general information regarding the department operations and/or services
• Processes incoming and outgoing mail

Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Due to the nature of the job, must read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to type and keypunch information into a computer. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer, and adding machine. Limited amount of effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Work is performed in an office environment where there are minimal to no discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires duties in social services environments where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible.

Full Time position; 37.50 hours per week.

Pay:

Starting rate is: $15.20 to $17.11 per hour; depends on experience. Benefits are offered.
